For the past three years, the Medellín-based project HiperBarrio project has focused on shining a light on different neighborhoods around the city. However, it has been the hard work of the project coordinators and the new bloggers, who have added life to the project. This is another interview with one of these bloggers, Yesenia Corrales, who will also be present at the Global Voices Citizen Media Summit in Santiago, Chile that will be held on May 6-7.
Ceasefire Liberia: Getting Up Close And Personal With The Bloggers

Aids Rights Congo: Using ICT To Combat Violence Against Women
During March 31 - April 03, 2010 AZUR Development concluded a training workshop as a part of the FTX (Feminist Tech Exchange) program supported by the Association for Progressive Communications (APC PARF). A number of girls and women from Brazzaville, Pointe Noire and Kinkala have participated in the training on the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to combat violence against women and girls.
Abidjan Blog Camps: For An Union Of Online Content Producers in Ivory Coast
Members of the Rising Voices grantee Abidjan Blog Camps participated in the Abidjan Barcamps 2010 in March. In that event its project leader Theophile Kouamouo advocated for an union of online content producers in Ivory Coast, which would seek to protect their production and their value.
Rising Voices Seeks Micro-Grant Proposals for Citizen Media Outreach in Egypt
Rising Voices, the outreach arm of Global Voices Online, in collaboration with the Heinrich Böll Foundation, is now accepting project proposals from non-governmental organizations (NGOs) or individuals for microgrant funding of up to €2500 for teaching blogging, videoblogging, or other citizen media techniques to teach underrepresented groups in EGYPT. Deadline is April 30, 2010.

EWAMT: The Start Of The 2nd Phase In Taizz City
The second phase of the ‘Empowerment of Women Activists in Media Techniques (EWAMT)‘ project started in Taizz city, a major city in Yemen located at the Southwestern highlands at an altitude of 1500 meters above sea level. In Partnership with the National Culture Center for Youth, EWAMT trained 15 female activists during 31 March- April 1st 2010 in Taizz City.
Hiperbarrio Expands To Three New Libraries In Medellin
According to an agreement between the EPM Foundation Network and HiperBarrio from Colombia, activities in 3 new communities in 3 libraries of Medellín (Villatina, La Esperanza and EPM) were started. The Hiperbarrio -Convergentes members share this information and many more stories in their blogs.

Voces Bolivianas: Ushahidi Platform For Election Reporting
During the Bolivian general elections on December 6, 2009 a number of Bolivian netizens used Web 2.0 tools such as blogs, Flickr, Youtube, Twitter and Facebook to share their perspectives of the election. This year on April 4th Bolivians are voting again to elect governors and mayors of different departments and municipalities and Bolivian citizen journalists are using the Ushahidi platform to report on the election using multiple tools like sms, email, twitter, web etc.
