Another audio:

These songs were recorded in 1989 by the professor and researcher Fernando Urbina Rangel, who for more than fifty years has been working with indigenous cultures in Colombia. Back then, my father, owner and heir of our group was getting ready to build a new anáneko (main house).

Twenty years after my father passed away, we can still listen to his voice and the voice of the people who accompanied him back then. Thanks to a number of researchers and their generosity, our clan is managing to collect many recordings of the voices of people who are no longer with us. This project allows us to raise awareness in the community listening to the voices and the knowledge of our parents and grandparents.

These are “nauifeirua jibarua” chants, that literally mean simple song by sunset. They can be chanted according to the choices of the singing groups. It's a moment when the dance is just starting, and the people in the jungle are still awake. The bad energies are still present in the environment. Here we present two songs (slow about yadiko) and yɨkuiyarua (fast and jumping), as they should be presented in the ceremony.
