Rising Voices note: Our biweekly newsletter provides a summary of our recent blog posts about all aspects of digital inclusion including access and adoption of digital tools, as well as different ways and opporunities for communities to fully participate online. Read here [1] for previous editions of this newsletter.

With launch events in several regional cities such as Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Manila, Philippines with others still to come, as well as social media outreach, the Video for Change Impact Toolkit [2] was recently officially unveiled.

This online resource produced by the organization Engage Media [3] in partnership with the Video4Change Network [4] provides video-makers with tools, best practices, and information on “how to safely and effectively create powerful videos and engage audiences for changemaking.”

Some of the toolkit sections include Research and Planning [5], Filming and Production [6], and Distribution and Engagement [7]. Each section includes strategies, as well as a collection of related resources for further reading. Please see the following video for more information on the toolkit.

MORE FROM THE RISING VOICES BLOG

For this issue, we’d like you to meet two recent hosts of our rotating Twitter project on African language digital activism (@DigiAfricanLang [8])!  We would like to thank Adebayo Adegbembo [9] for sharing with us his work on the Yoruba language and Mama A. Nii Owoo [10] for her work on the Gã language.  Please read the Q&A posts to learn more about them and their work!

Also in this issue, we’d like to introduce you to two recent guest-hosts of @ActLenguas [11] — indigenous language digital activists Kiado Cruz [12] (Zapotec from Santa Cruz Yagavila, Oaxaca, Mexico) and Netzahualcóyotl López [13] (Mixtec from Yucuhiti, Oaxaca, Mexico).  In their profile posts, you’ll get to know more about them and their work in revitalizing/promoting of their native languages.

Aside from our digital activism efforts around languages, we’d also like you to know about how, back in 2017, some communities in Colombia came together and took the initiative to bridge the “digital divide” between their rural communities and its urban centers as well as women’s involvement in this community project.  “We can't just sit back and wait…” [14]
