Hello readers, how are you doing this February? We have something exciting to share with all of you!

Last year, the Barcelona-based organization Linguapax International created a Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) called Linguistic Diversity, What For?  and invited Rising Voices, along with other experts to contribute their experiences.  The course is now available on the learning platform Coursera [3], where interested participants can enroll for free. In this course, you will learn not only what linguistic diversity is about but also practical issues as experienced and handled in various contexts around the world.

Additionally, for those who have read about RV community member Subhashish Panigrahi [4] many times in this Newsletter, you will now have the chance to meet Mr. Panigrahi “in person” and hear him talk about Rising Voices’ involvement in and approach toward language digital activism.

To learn more about this course that we helped create, check out this promotional video [5] by Linguapax International [6].

MORE FROM THE RISING VOICES BLOG

Speaking of language diversity…  What is the role that language has on being able to tackle misinformation? That was the main topic of discussion in a recent webinar organized by Rising Voices and First Draft. Come read this post [7] for a summary of the conversation with experts from Ethiopia, India, and Burkina Faso who shared local experiences on this matter.

Meanwhile, we’d like to share with you the good news of a historic legal victory in Mexico.  This is a legal precedent that not only draws a line between commercial vs. community telecommunications services providers but will also help ensure affordable access to mobile services for rural communities across the country.  Read the whole story here [8].
