The worksh0p is made possible by the Wikimedia Foundation's Knowledge Equity Fund grant.
What is the workshop about?
Over two days, we’ll combine reflection and action to help you explore and apply digital tools effectively to your interest in promoting the Dagbani language. The first part of the workshop will provide a space to reflect on why digital tools can be useful to help you make the change you want to see, explore practical and inspiring examples, and help you create a personalized plan aligned with clear and actionable goals. In the second part of the workshop, we’ll focus on experimenting with different tools and strategies to turn your ideas into impactful and sustainable actions.
The workshop will incorporate elements and concepts from the “Digital Initiatives for Indigenous Languages” toolkit developed by Rising Voices in collaboration with UNESCO as part of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages 2022–2032.
The workshop will support you to:
Day 1
- Better understand how digital activism fits into broader strategies (such as human rights advocacy and/or language revitalization) in your specific context.
- Define the change or impact you would like to influence.
- Identify approaches that best support the change you want to see.
- Explore ways to build skills and review examples that might align with your proposed project.
- Create a plan based on a chosen tactic or strategy from the toolkit, identifying concrete steps to expand your skills or knowledge.
Day 2
- Begin implementing your plan by creating content and exploring different digital platforms, such as creating content in Dagbani using Wikimedia platforms.
- Receive support and feedback on tools you could use or learn to use.
