Nomad Green: Mongolian Citizen Journalists Visit Taiwan
Nine citizen journalists from Nomad Green, the Rising Voices grantee in Mongolia recently visited Taiwan to learn more about Taiwan's social and environmental issues and local cultures and receive citizen media training. They also interacted with Taiwanese citizen media contributors, activists, environmentalists, and the Mongolian community in Taiwan.
Announcing the Newest Grantees From Egypt
Rising Voices is pleased to announce the 3 newest members to join its global community of citizen media projects. These 3 Egypt-based projects will receive microgrant funding so that they can implement their projects and help bring a new set of Egyptian voices into light.

Many of the grantees from the Rising Voices community wanted to express their gratitude and best wishes for David Sasaki, as he leaves Rising Voices at the end of this month for a new professional opportunity. HiperBarrio: Voices Expressing Fear, Outrage And Hope
After a testing period of peace, reconciliation and hopes, the specters of violence in Medellín, especially San Javier La Loma (13th district) are returning. The crimes like murders and kidnappings by armed gang and drug cartels have increased in recent months. Members of the Rising Voices grantee HiperBarrio are witnessing the events and are expressing their fear, outrage, uncertainties and hopes via blog posts.

The Global Voices Citizen Media Summit 2010 took place earlier this month at Santiago Public Library in the capital of Chile. Over 200 people from 60 countries attended the summit, which was well covered in the media. Four Rising Voices projects were presented during the two days of the summit.
