Initiated in 2021, a project sought to establish a dedicated Wikipedia for the Ghanaian Pidgin language. By 2023, this volunteer-led initiative resulted in the official launch of the Ghanaian Pidgin Wikipedia, accessible at gpe.wikipedia.org and recognized by Wikimedia's Language Committee. The project aims to create accessible Ghanaian Pidgin knowledge, focusing on involving youth in education and workplaces. With the help of volunteer translators created new articles in the language, despite volunteer availability challenges and occasional vandalism.

The Ghanaian Pidgin Wikimedians Community played a central role in achieving this result, and whose objectives include transitioning the project from incubation stage to official site by developing related Wikimedia projects, augmenting content across platforms, recruiting proficient Ghanaian Pidgin speakers, enhancing content quality, and distributing educational materials. Additional projects include edit-a-thons, Wikimedia contests, translation initiatives, GLAM activities, and training sessions.
