Bien Chabacano

Bien Chabacano, is a Phillippines-based blog dedicated to the Chabacano language and managed by Jerome Herrera based in Zamboanga City in the island group of Mindanao. The blog's origins trace back to 2007, when the author relocated to a new city and sought solace and purpose in this undertaking. During this period, the author was self-studying the Spanish language and noticed the notable similarities between Spanish and Chabacano. As time passed, the blog's focus expanded to encompass a variety of topics, including theories about the potential origins of specific Chabacano words, trends and developments within the Chabacano language, and distinctions and similarities between Chabacano and other languages such as Spanish, Filipino, Hiligaynon, Portuguese, and the Chabacano languages spoken in Ternate and Cavite City.

Bien Chabacano's primary objective is to foster a sense of pride and improve proficiency in the Chabacano language, especially among young Chabacano speakers. This is achieved through discussions about the language's rich history and detailed exploration of its grammatical intricacies and nuances. Additionally, the blog aims to reintroduce forgotten words and serve as a comprehensive resource center for the Chabacano language, with the goal of revitalizing its usage among today's youth.

In 2018, Herrera took on the challenge of translating and independently publishing a Chabacano version of “Le Petit Prince”.
