Sakiraaɓe Media

Sakiraɓe Media is a project initiated by a group of young undergraduate students from Bayero University in Kano, Nigeria. Their goal was to empower and preserve the endangered Fulfulde language through media representation. The project originated from their shared passion for Fulfulde and the need to create a platform for its promotion and sustainability.

The core team consists of five individuals: Naseh Yusuf Usman, Surajo Ibrahim Muhammad (Teete), Hamidu Muhammad Musa (Jaɓɓule), Abubakar Yunusa Lawlo (Yaakanaaji), and Isma’il Muhammad Adam (Paalaaka), who shared a common vision. Later, they welcomed Abdullahi Umar Winndebaago, a dedicated Fulfulde activist with expertise in filmmaking, to join their mission.

Despite facing challenges in securing programming on Kano radio stations in the past, the team persevered. They turned to social media platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp, along with creating a web blog called Sakiraaɓe Trust, to connect with their growing audience.

Sakiraɓe Media serves as a platform for the Fulfulde language's preservation and growth, using creativity and technology. Through various media channels, they share educational and entertaining content while raising awareness within the Fulɓe community. This project reflects the determination of a passionate group dedicated to revitalizing their endangered language.
