BASAsulsel Wiki is one of the wikis within the “BASAibu Wiki” network, a community-driven initiative. Stemming from the success of BASAbali Wiki, which counts on over 2.3 million users in Bali, Indonesia, BASAsulsel Wiki serves the South Sulawesi community, encompassing regions like Makassar and Gowa Regency. Operating in the Makassarese, Buginese, Indonesian, and English languages, it underscores the importance of local, national, and international languages.

The primary objective of BASAsulsel Wiki is to provide a welcoming, secure, and inclusive platform for the South Sulawesi community to voice concerns affecting their lives and well-being. This community actively participates in shaping the wiki, ensuring that they contribute to its development rather than merely consuming its content, thus tailoring it to evolving community needs. The initiative encourages youth to utilize local languages when discussing civic matters on community-developed digital platforms, fostering open dialogue where both the public and policymakers can engage in the local language.
