IsiXhosa.click is an online dictionary for IsiXhosa and English. The project aims to create a free, open-source, and easily usable dictionary for learners of isiXhosa. The team decided to start the project in order to address the lack of high-quality, free resources for learning isiXhosa online. Our main audience is learners of isiXhosa who speak English, but we are actively working to make the site more useful for isiXhosa speakers who are studying at university in English. Our effort here consists of integrating university-level isiXhosa terminology.

The main challenge we have faced is the lack of open data for isiXhosa. We have tackled this by allowing anyone to submit words to the site, thus making it a community-driven effort, similar to a wiki. Additionally, we seek out and incorporate as many free datasets as we can. In the past, we have also paid experts to help add words to the site.
