The city of El Alto is characterized for its maintenance of a organizational syndicalist structure dominated mostly by men, and few women have managed to take leadership roles in these structures. However, women from El Alto have all the qualities to enter these digital spaces. We propose to work with adolescent women – young people from three schools and teach the use of web 2.0 technologies to the benefit of the city of El Alto.
Topical focus:
Country:
What locality or neighborhood will your project focus on?
El Alto
Describe the specific community with whom you will be working.
Being at a stage where you can find potential leaders, society does not consider that teenagers can be a leader at a young age, adolescent women have a great potential to be a leader, that's why I decided to work with female teenagers in District 5. Schools will include: Rafael Mendoza Castellón, Huayna Potosi and Tawantinsuyo, students from 3 and 4 grade in the city of El Alto.
What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
By 2014, the participants will administer their own blog which will be based on Women's rights, use of web 2.0 tools with a focus on gender; Reflection on their vision of El Alto.
It envisages the creation of a Facebook group to create a space to exchange views on women's rights; Share Web 2.0 tools and content developed by them; mobilize joint actions of respect, promotion and women's rights.
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?
Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established that will contribute to the success of the project.
To ensure the work with the target, we plan to work in partnership with the administrations of the mentioned schools and their school boards: Rafael Mendoza Castellón, Huayna Potosi and Tawantinsuyo, to support the project. For the issue of training, we have alliances with the Internet community of El Alto (EABlogs).
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
The project will target 20 secondary students of grade 3 and 4. During the project, there will be a blog post writing contest with reflection of the situation of women in El Alto that will be rewarded with a certain amount of money. We will try to get them involved with activities that have existing communities El Alto: EABlogs, Jaqiaru, free Wifi in El Alto, etc, in order to close the gender gaps online.
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
We believe that the contact by Rising Voices and this group of women with similar communities elsewhere in Latin America and the world can create common spaces for reflection and encourage the importance of this work in this area from the point of view of other realities. These meetings can be made on line and would be designed to share common problems from different realities.

Dear Guadalupe Quisbert Tapia,
This project is good and is similar to mine but i M worried it might need much more money than is shown in the rising voices grant guidelines,i know in future we will partner.then i think government should also support you because you are supporting students for me in Uganda i am supporting voiceless women and vulnerable children.
thanks Williams moi
fellow applicant from Uganda.
I think every 100 mile starts with step 1 so an idea is worthy a good investment because many youths wonder in the streets without such idea.
i shall add my experience now CBO needs enterprise development as you raise little money you look for support as well Big up keep on.
Big up Safeplan Uganda.
