The proposal presented here want to empower people of african descent, young and adults, in the development and dissemination of audiovisual publications. We also will create an “educommunicative” model for interventions in public spaces and to interchange our learning process to other networks already organized. This initiative is connected with a larger project of ethnic-racial education to promote black culture in Brazil.
Topical focus:
Country:
What locality or neighborhood will your project focus on?
ABC area (Ribeirão Pires, Santo André and others), SP
Describe the specific community with whom you will be working.
We will be developing the idea of AfroAudiovisualSchool with afrobrazilian descents in the ABC area, located in the state of São Paulo. Men and women, young and adult, linked to social, popular and communitary movements, and that demonstrate interest in this thematic project. In the second phase, we will be sharing informations and experiences and holding meetings, virtual and physical, with other groups from different regions of our country.
What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
The content we imagine will be developed in this project is intended to form part of teaching materials for our idealized AfroSchool. So we believe that the productions can be made based on the stories and informations of afrodescent communities, their cultures and their current practices. Also we think of the record of activisms and contemporary manifestations, which promote and stimulate debates in our society.
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?
Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established that will contribute to the success of the project.
Our local actions, individual or igroup, are always supported and disseminated in a regional network of agents and social mobilizations. In this project we have the partnership of community radios, small newspapers, collectives related to the topic of free communication, etc. All material to be produced will use free software and its distribution made under the creative commons license. Also we will encourage the reproduction of experience.
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
We firstly want assemble a group of 20 or 30 people approximately, who may have good training and hope they commit themselves to coordinate future actions. Then this will become educators and multiply the informations in other differentiated experiences. Also we think about interventions and shorter formats in diverse locations to attract the attention of the general public y to propagate more and more the project.
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
Rising Voices can help us, besides funding, disseminating our ideas and our actions in various communication channels. You can also give us contacts from other interesting networks for us to increase ours. You can inform us about similar opportunities to support others projects. And, most importantly, you must share your experiences and solutions so we can do our job better.
