Recover the historical memory of the community Afro Colombian La Toma, in the department of Cauca. Empowering young people of the community in the use and appropriation of digital communication tools that allow them to present their cultural and ancestral heritage. We define three processes: 1. Collect information on the community through interviews and documents 2. Curated information 3. Publication and dissemination of knowledge

What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
Interviews, photo stories, sound mapping on:
– Musical Instruments
– Orality
– Artisanal mining
– Typical dances
– Traditional Medicine
– Local knowledge
We look for people aware of the importance of citizen journalism, take ownership of technology tools, content production, published and disseminated. But most importantly, they can replicate this learning process in their community.

Consejo Comunitario Afro, La Toma, Cauca. Appropriation of the public library.
Alcaldía Municipal de Suarez, Cauca. Coordination of public libraries in the municipality.
Biblioteca Nacional de Colombia. Internship at public libraries, municipality of Suarez, Community Council Afro La Toma, Cauca.
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
25 people.
Beside to the Community Council, convene, inform about the project and start the training process.
That young people are empowered as active members of the project, not only from the production and dissemination of content, but from the design and organization:
Lines of work structures, organize teams, set objectives, determine tasks, define responsibilities, develop the schedule, among others.
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
We have an interdisciplinary professional team ready to work with the project, we can mention:
– Anthropologists
– Journalists
– Videomaker
– Photographers
– Librarians, among others.
Another important support is the open source community, who will provide the technological basis of the project.
