Finalist – Uganda: Female Documentary Film Training on Women Advocacy

“One out of three women will experience Violence in her life time”! Women around the world are subjected to violence in many forms that has reduced opportunities for women to compete favorably at all levels. These forms of violence include human trafficking, sexual violence and harmful traditional practices like Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). The more violence against women continues, the more their rights are restricted. The project is meant to enlighten and awaken this group to acquire skills on how to document women’s issues and support women rights activism in our society.

Kudos to Manya for the work you are doing in Uganda! In such a short time, Manya is becoming a great platform for sharing and discussing human rights. To our biggest population with a poor reading culture, the Film medium is such a great tool in informing and educating the mass. I believe NGOs can borrow from your mechanism of using film. I believe this project will be a success and wish that it can be spread more in rural areas for people to know what women go through.

As a human rights activist, it’s the way to go to use the social media to promote the rule of law.

I have seen this in Google search and i am so excited about this project in Uganda! I am glad someone is enhancing women’s skill indeed to be empowered to document what we go through unlike what the male counterparts know. Girls and women are subjected to all forms of violence and it’s high time the world awakens before it’s too late.

This project is good and indeed if we have documentations on women’s issues and abuse with concrete pictures, i am confident justice will be appreciated easily. Please Manya make this Project country wide if you can. You have my support and good luck in all.

    I remain.

Am a human rights activist and would and appreciate the work you are doing! I attended last year’s Manya Human Rights festival and i was impressed by the nature of the organisation. I hope to see the produced stories at this year’s festival. May you please send me the festival dates for this year?
