Finalist – Argentina: Los Inestables Radio: More Participation, Less Segregation

Los Inestables Radio seeks to promote the appropriation of digital technology tools by participants, with the aim to promote self-management and the collective participation in each of the stages of radio production. For this purpose, we will conduct training workshops in live broadcasting, recording and editing of podcasts, and the use of social networking so they can share their content with the global community. There will also be biweekly tutorials and sessions to share experiences with other local community organizations.

Argentina: Los Chicos Lo Cuentan Corto

We propose an audiovisual production workshop for children. We will use various techniques and communication tools to provide participants the opportunity to express their ideas, concerns, fears and feelings. It is expected that in the exchange with their peers in a favorable institutional context, children can be the protagonists of the stories they want to tell to enhance both their perspectives and their voices.

Our goal is to give visibility and voice to communities in the provinces of Santa Fe and Chaco through of social and participatory mapping. Specifically we want to trace the route and the landscape of the problem of access to drinking water and its implications

Argentina: New Media for Participation Against Forced Evictions

We will work to empower residents of Villa Inflamable (VI), a slum on the outskirts of Buenos Aires facing eviction, to act as citizen journalists and advocates for themselves and for similar communities. Our communication team and media experts will hold blogging/podcasting workshops together with VI’s Neighborhood Council. The content will both be disseminated within VI and outside the community, raising social awareness of this struggle.

The project seeks to create appropriate virtual spaces equipped with the latest communication technologies for mass use such as Facebook, Twitter, blogs, and Internet. We hope that the children and teenagers learn about the correct use of this technology by making known the activities and other information regarding their rights and their community's culture.

Argentina: Salinas Grandes Goes Online

This project is a challenge aimed at telling through the website salinasgrandes.org: how the native communities of Salinas Grandes and Laguna de Guayatayoc live and what they feel, think and believe. These are 33 communities located in the North of Argentina that struggle to defend their territory from the introduction of mining companies, in an area where the Government does not supply electricity, tap water, gas, or mobile phone service.

Argentina: Communicating Our Indigenous Peasant Assembly

Provide training and equipping to the communicator team of the Asamblea Campesina Indígena del Norte Argentino-ACINA, to generate contents, that promotes exchange experiences and participation of our communities in defense of the food sovereignty, right to land and life in our territories. Using the Internet and social networks, we want to talk our struggles and proposals, sensitize at society and mobilize more youth in our communities.

Argentina: Rural Families Linked to a Radio-electronic net

Radio Cooperativa Tinku is non-formal. It has an antenna with a radius of 60 km from Mina Clavero, Córdoba. We will install 4 antennas networked with the central radio antenna. Each one will connect to a PC and a console. Mobile equipment and stations (3) will provide community service. This local identity is without representation and falls promoting their craft. RTC will provide e-courses to develop communication skills.

Radio Los Inestables attempts to train the project participants in the use digital tools in order to increase their active participation and self-management in every stage of broadcast production. To achieve this, we will provide workshops to teach them how to record and edit audio recordings. We will also give them trainning and mentoring in the use of social networks, so they will be able to share their productions with the broader community.
