Information and communications technologies (ICTs) are transforming societies and fueling the growth of the global economy. Yet despite the broad potential of ICTs, their benefits have not been spread evenly. Indeed, using ICTs will be effectively to foster social inclusion and economic growth is among the key challenges facing policymakers today, and therefore organization hopes to promote ICTs development across many dimensions.

Kenya: Digital fishermen of Oyamo Island

This project is to transform the fishermen in Oyamo island from traditional inadequate ways of communication by training them in computer and internet usage. The project is to enhance these fishermen global participation in environmental issues especially water and marine conservation. They will have a voice in global major environmental forums organized by UNEP and other stakeholders, something they are not even aware of currently.

I am proposing to train young people on how to make personal blogs a n websites that they can use to tel their own stories.Nakuru is a central business hub in East Africa and has recently opened a Library that has internet at very low costs.This is a facility that i want to attract young people to.I have a group of young talented artists who use storytelling as a communication and education tool .Some of these stories will be put in our blog.

Activities that will close the gaps are; Instituting dialogue through blogs around social sector priority, Improve and influence resource allocation and training women on the use of blogs to create awareness to wider community women issues spectrum.

Kenya: Voices of The Disabled (VOTED)

The VOTED project will train persons with disabilities by use of voice activated software, to use Citizen Journalism and speak out on issues affecting them and how to make society more inclusive for PWD’s. These issues include lack of accessible facilities, access to technology, educational facilities and job opportunities. This will be accomplished through the launch of an online magazine creating awareness through social media and radio stations.

Kenya: Kibwezi Youth Network

Kibwezi Youth Network project seeks to mobilize, train and encourage the youth in Kibwezi district to use social media to access information and connect with the world. The youth have difficulties in making decision due to lack of exposure, since their concepts of communication knowledge is limited. They will be trained through workshops and encouraged to use citizen media to alleviate the challenges that face them.

Kenya: Using Media to Preserve the Nyala Language

This project will help the Nyala community members to gain perspectives on the role of social media in language and culture preservation. Through a series of workshops, young community members will be trained and involved in documentation and dissemination of their language and culture using digital media and social networking tools such as Video and twitter.The project will produce audio and video documentation of Nyala traditional lifestyle.

Kenya: Introducing Social Media to Grassroot Women in Kakamega

The project intends to connect ten indigenous/grassroot women groups in Kakamega County,who are engaged in different social-economic activities in order to learn from each group and hence come up with a Participatory Intergrated Community Development program which each group will be sharing through social media.The project will train and equip this vulnerable group of women on social media and videography.
