Finalist – Greece: Citizen Journalism Against Ore Mining in Halkidiki

Radiobubble/Hackademy will train 25 residents of northern Greece on the development of citizen media. This will enable the protest movement against ore mining in Halkidiki to bypass the media blackout on issues faced by locals and to challenge the image of this struggle in corporate media, in order to inform the rest of the country of the political and financial scandal, slow-motion environmental disaster and excessive police brutality that have come to rule people's lives. The 4-day workshop will be organised around a planned rally in order to include real-life coverage of a protest event.

Finalist – Cyprus: From Our Perspective – Discussing Disability

The project will provide training to people with disabilities and their representative organisations in digital storytelling, aiming to empower participants with the skills to convey to the general public their experiences and the issues of relevance to them. Participants will be trained during two training workshops in the use of digital media tools and will create their own media products for online dissemination. These will be followed by pubic screenings that will highlight the commonalities that exist across the Cyprus divide so contributing to improved dialogue and understanding.

Spain: Peoplewitness

Peoplewitness is a network of livestreamers born in November 2011. We help spread the voice of communities strongly hit by austerity measures, while traditional media only offers an official version of the crisis. Peoplewitness helps cover the citizens’ need to report their reality. We do a series of workshops to provide the knowledge, technology, motivation, support and selfconfidence people need to report their own reality through streaming.

Greece: Citizen Journalism Against Ore Mining in Halkidiki

Radiobubble/Hackademy will provide training on citizen media in north-east Halkidiki, an area of northern Greece at risk of wholesale environmental and social destruction due to ore mining activities developed by Hellas Gold. Its purpose is to enable local residents to share reliable information with the wider public in Greece and abroad through means that enable them to bypass the mainstream media blackout on the issues they are facing.

France: Empowering Immigrant Women to Regain their Voice

The project aims to train a group of immigrant women in Nimes, France on the use of social network such as blogs, facebook and e-commerce sites (i.e Etsy.com). Exposing them to online social network as well as market opportunities online provides them an outlet to express themselves but also gives them an opportunity to use their skill and become economically autonomous, helping them regain confidence, find their voice again and use it.

UK: Sikh and Muslim e-Activism Project

Sikh and Muslim community leaders from West London (UK) will receive training in film-making from a professional, facilitating them to learn how to make high quality, effective short films with their mobile phones. These films will promote messages of peace and tolerance between the two communities. They will also receive YouTube training to promote their videos and connect with others internationally, so as to spread positive messages.

Spain: Options: Bank of Resources for Transformative Consumption

The online Bank of Resources wants to be a virtual space providing practical tools and a platform for exchange and empowerment on conscious consumption. Its main element will be a collaborative map of transformative initiatives around Spain. It will be developed with citizens previously trained and further improved by the online community. By visualizing the existing options and providing resources we aim to inspire and encourage change.

Italy: REC! Refugees Echoes in the City

The project wants to give to refugees living in Italy the possibility to inform about their experiences, desires and perceptions about the hosting cities. Refugees will be trained about the general techniques of audio and photograph documentary and will produce a set of podcasts and pictures to tell about their previous life and the life they are living now highlighting the violation of rights they suffered in their country as well as in Italy.
