The primary goal of the project is to establish a healthy cooperation and mutual understanding between the Emo community and the highly religious Christian Orthodox youth in Georgia. The main challenge associated with this initiate is to correctly explain the ideological conviction of the group and to erase the preconceived notion that being an Emo means being anti-social and above all, anti religious.
What locality or neighborhood will your project focus on?
Describe the specific community with whom you will be working.
What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
The 20 participants will attend trainings on short movie production and will be divided into five teams of four. Each team will have two members from both represented groups, who will work together to create a short creative video on the lifestyle and vision of both groups, ways to eliminate boundaries and establish mutual respect. The final products will be uploaded to a website dedicated to Emo-Christian partnership in Georgia.
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?
Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established that will contribute to the success of the project.
Our organization wants to collaborate with Film and Video Production departments of Shota Rustaveli Theatre Institute of Georgia and Georgian Technical University, as well as Orthodox Christian high-schools located in Tbilisi. Our partner organizations and institutions will assist us in selecting the participants, organizing info meetings and in acquiring the necessary equipment.
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
20 participants will be trained in the framework of the project, who will be the primary actors in the production of the final online product. The beneficiaries will be selected primarily from schools and universities, as well as online communities. By encouraging these teenagers to collaborate and work on the same project, we hope to create long-lasting friendships that will facilitate long-term changes in their communities.
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
For successful implementation of the project, Rising Voices could provide us with international examples of effective integration of Emo youth into different social and specifically religious initiatives. It would also be helpful to create an online platform where Emo teenagers from highly religious societies can share their experience and challenges.
