Sharpen Voices for Women Sexual Right is an advocacy effort which seeks to empower young women to advocate for their own reproductive and sexual health rights(SRHR) through public awareness-raising and advocacy, mobilization of peers to take action for the establishment of favourable policies and programmes that grantee universal access to SRHR services for women before and after Millennium Development Goal 5, through the use of social media.

The Media Community in Ghana has established a favourable environment where Political Parties and People in Leadership positions are held accountable for their mistakes and wrong doings. Inspite of these achievement, women are under-represented when it comes to women focus editorials. Editorials that focused on women are very few, accounting for 1.6% from 2005 to 2009 and still low. Our aim is to increased women focused editorials in Ghana.
What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
Our Vision will focus on promotion of policies and programmes that grantee universal access to SRHR services for the women before and after Millennium Development Goal 5. Meaning that, women will use social media in creating stories and news that advocate for their sexual and reproductive rights. Participating women will remind the governments of Ghana to translate their commitment and policies into action by advocating at the community level.

Kabor Foundation the would-be implementers of the SVWSR is an Executive member and a registered member of a Youth Advocacy Platform-Youth Manifesto Coalition,which is a Youth led response to the need for more concerted and coordinated efforts addressing issues affecting young men and women.We will liaise with YES Ghana, the host organization for this coalition to design community radio programmes for beneficiaries of SVWSR to participate in.
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
In all 150 women from five communities will be trained to embarked on this advocacy effort. Greater Participation will be given to young women student, 15 to 35.Although a few more will come from out of school young women who can read and write. It is relevant to choose people who can read and write and have interest in media work. Participation will be sustain through incentive motivation, that is presenting them with educational gift
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
Apart from the migrogrant funding, Rising Voices can support us with any educational material on social media and also technical advice on the project. Also, we will be glad if Rising Voices can help us in the creation of a website for women editorials on sexual and reproductive health issues in Ghana.
