Young (18 -25 years) out of schools girls of fishermen community who live along the coasts of Puducherry have neither access of social media nor knowledge of it. Recently the Thane cyclone trashed the fishermen habitations and the most vulnerable are the young girls. So, it is decided to mobilize 50 young girls from 10 fishermen villages near Puducherry. They will be trained in basic computer operations.

What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
We plan to develop the young girls for their best communication and dialogue with others through website and internet for their development. The community girls will be getting their own computer at the end of the project for their communication system. The young girls will get the opportunity to improve their general and communicate skills with others for their higher education and employment.
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?

The experts will be invited for two weeks course for conducting trainings, workshops. The trainees will be learning about the Word, Excel, Power point presentation, and internet usage with e-mail and creates weblog with the support of the Instructors.
Some local volunteers are coming regularly for assessing the training sessions. These volunteers are professional persons to build the skills to the local community within the time limit.
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
This project will be trained 50 young girls from 10 fishermen villages near Puducherry. The local Panchayat leaders and women groups will ensure their participation in the project. The training will be given in tmail language and good training facilities would be helpful them to participate regularly. This project will try to record all the folk songs, folktales, folk performances etc. It is very interesting them to look in to their culture.
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
1. 50 Basic computer books in English.
3. 50 USB keys (portable storage device).
4. Software package for Photo and video editing.
