The project will help indigenous youths to voice their cultural rights online, using Twitter and Facebook. A page for indigenous youths to promote their rich culture, share pictures of their cultural heritage with others, video of performing art, and discussions on how to further develop the practices and make it accessible for future generations and find way for preservation through a sustainable process of changes.

What locality or neighborhood will your project focus on?
Churachandpur
Describe the specific community with whom you will be working.
The Hmar of the Zo hill people in India are marginalized and isolated from internet and access to information. One youths in 10 hardly get chance to go online; not to mention of Twitter or Facebook! The computer age is just reaching them and they are eager to use a computer with internet access. I want to work with the Hmar community because they are my own community being deprived of all opportunities in the world!
What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
I will put a point of discussion for indigenous culture development, open space for youths to share their ideas, pictures, activities on the page(s). I will put innovative cultural practices, songs and dance and open for discussion; role of youth and media for its promotion and preservation. I want to create a platform where indigenous youths can share their cultural practices and share stories with others in Diasporas.
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?
Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established that will contribute to the success of the project.
We have our own blogging website http://biblehillyouthclub.blogpsot.com which we will link with this project. Besides I am also a member of Youth Voice International where I can link the project with it and make wider impacts. I also have a GupShup where I can share informations through mobile phones. I will be also partnering with the Asian Indigenous People Pact (AIPP) who can help me in facilitating the project for sustainability.
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
I think I will be able to reach minimum 5000 indigenous youths online (Twitter and Facebook); and practically trained 20 youths a month, 240 a year on how to use the internet and gain access to information. Training workshops will be held with these youths and practical use of internet will be provided to them at our office and one rent cyber cafe in Churachandpur. Once they know how to use the internet or join GupShup, they will continue it.
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
Website designing, online interaction and technical help to trained youths to set up their own Voice(s) or Pages. I think Rising Voice can also help me in finding more resources for funding a larger project for youth and women development. I also need more technical skill to further develop websites, blogs or social networking sites.
