Our project seeks to train rural youth in a combination of traditional and new media to promote demand for and access to entrepreneurial training in a region beset by poverty and unemployment through:
a. Street plays: A hugely popular medium in rural India
b. Digital video: To film the plays
c. Social media: Facebook/ youtube, to present role models of micro-entrepreneurship to a the online community
d. Radio programmes for All India Radio

Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established that will contribute to the success of the project.
BPF has a longstanding relationship with the target community through our grassroots wing in the area. Our livelihood model MOVE, designed to impart market-driven entrepreneurial education to the poor, has impacted the lives of hundreds of beneficiaries here. In the process, we have built and strengthened women’s self-help groups and interacted closely with both government and non-governmental organisations. We have also worked with youth groups
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
Our project seeks to train 10 young men and women with an interest in social media and technology in five villages in the intervention area. In addition, we also propose to train about 16 young people in street theatre.
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
Besides the micro-grant funding, Rising Voices could post our stories and broadcast our outputs on their websites. In addition, you could also link the young people we train to online sites and events that would help them develop their newly acquired social media skills. Although they speak only Kannada, our staff would be able to facilitate through translation.
