The main activities of this project is to teach the use of social media (blogs, twitter, facebook) to volunteers and youth at coastal mangroves Percut, Deli Serdang – North Sumatra. This activity will generate an information media that is managed and developed by the participants, who became their liaison with the outside society. By the achievement of purpose of this activity, then participants will be able to create content that relates to their lives, such as matters relating to the environment, society empowerment, increase in economic welfare, need for public facilities, and information about the conservation of mangroves that is the source of their income.

I along with some friends have been active as volunteer of Akademi Berbagi (www.akademiberbagi.com) for region Medan – North Sumatra. The core of the activities of Akademi Berbagi is to hold the free workshop or seminar on information technology, digital media, journalism, creative industries, and others. In this activity we will cooperate with House Books Mangrove that has initiated to empower coastal society Percut, Deli Serdang.
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
From the data that we get from Books Home Mangroves community, there were 10 volunteers and 27 children coast could be participants in this activity.
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
Communities percut Deli Serdang can be exposed and get positive feedback from the wider community so that local society can evolve to catch up. Besides funding for activities, Rising Voices is also expected to spread information actively on coastal society Percut, Deli Serdang through websites or social networking. By the implementation of these activities hopefully the real conditions of coastal .
