What locality or neighborhood will your project focus on?
Tansen
Describe the specific community with whom you will be working.
We will work in collaboration with Village District Cooperation and local communities in Kadgakot VDC in Gulmi District of Nepal. The communities identified in this project are unaware of how Information Technology could transcend traditional marketing of local agro and herbal products and tourism. These communities with little or in access to social media will be the right target for us to demonstrate the potential of modern media marketing.
What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
The citizen media output will contain photos of the community/business products transformed to a likeable marketing video with the help of web based platform called picovico ( http://www.picovico.com/) and sound input supported by it ,that would be posted on YouTube and in social medias. Through efficient training on use and utility of camera and internet, the conversion of photos of local products to efficient media output will be facilitated.
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?
Other tools
Pico Vico used for making Video from Photos
Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established that will contribute to the success of the project.
HPR Nepal is working in close collaboration with Nepal Wireless Network. While the later provides Internet Wifi in the district, our organization provides facilities like E-Library, E farming etc, which is part of an ongoing project in Gulmi. This network now aspires to infuse entrepreneurship culture in the community. We aim to use this existing Internet Network which has 400 customers and build a network of local entrepreneurs with modern media
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
400 participants from our existent customer base will be trained in our project. Since the participants will be from our working customer group which consists of local entrepreneurs, we aim to achieve our intended goal in training and equipping them with modern media marketing tools. The lucrative media marketing strategy that would link their business and products all over the web would prove in penetrating nearby city market like Tansen, Palpa.
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
We have been generating monetary resources through Internet Video Calling and other internet application in the District from the locals and the VDCs. We intend to expand this as a Telecentre hub. We also plan to promote Home stay in the Village. E-Samriddhi (meaning E-Prosperity) would help create marketing medium to develop this home stay tourism culture and help in livelihood development. Rising Voice can help us establish, promote and expand
