We aim to empower them to identify their problems, and move forward to solve the problems by group discussion. In addition, we also aim to promote their language, dress, culture and their lifestyle so that it can be heard and shared for the development of this community. This project aims to discuss the actual problems; and approaches that they are taking to solve. A documentary will be prepared to capture whole process of discussion.
What locality or neighborhood will your project focus on?
Rural VDC of Ramechhap district
Describe the specific community with whom you will be working.
Nepal has 87,000 indigenous majhi population scattered all over the Nepal and only 1.2% of them are literate. Their main occupation is to help people in crossing the rivers and fishing. Having very low literacy and this community is located near river in rural areas, poorly represented online. We will focus one village development committee (VDC) of Vartauli in Ramechhap district where about 15,000 majhis are in the VDCs.
What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
Documentary of discussion and every possession from birth to death, livelihood activities, language and culture will be prepared. In addition to this, group in facebook and tweeter will also be created.

Lifeline Nepal is a non-profit, non-governmental organization based in Nepal that focuses on remote, hard to reach, marginalized, and disadvantaged populations to bring the their issues . Lifeline Nepal already established partnership with different indigenous groups including majhis community of Ramechhap district. Lifeline Nepal put the every effort to maintain the future partnership with majhis community.
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
We aim to take entire community of 15000 people for spreading messages concerning culture and environment awareness in different media including documentary, audio, visual and social networking sites in order to empower people from this group.
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
Besides the microgrant funding rising voices can provide suggestion, guidelines and supervision.
