The single women in Nepal are being marginalized and discriminated in every aspect of life from cultural traditions to laws and policies. Single women are in a worse state and still they are considered as symbols of ill-omen and the cause of the death of their husbands. This project collets and share the realistic voices of single women to transform their sorrow to strengthen in Jhapa district through creating website and newsletter.

What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
Particularly, they are free to share the positive and negative experiences living with the single life. The contents may be their struggle related to violence, discrimination, torture, unemployment, misconception, lacking in policies, support, caring, freedom, participation etc. Sharing their realistic voices, the responsible authority and key people of the society work to address their problems and their voices are recognized.
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?
Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established that will contribute to the success of the project.
I am a youth activist and working at the similar field for five years and I have developed good relationship with the network of single women, local authority, IT professional, politician, media etc in Jhapa.
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
There will be 55 direct participants (11 members of single women from each VDC/network) and they will be trained on internet, uploading their story, news on website and writing articles in newsletter. The indirect beneficiaries will be more than 2000 including newsletter readers and website follower.
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
I think, it can be better if Rising Voices Microgrants provides some website space to incorporate the voices of single women of Jhapa district. It helps to reach out the more people worldwide.
