The silence cry of a indigenous women who gives birth to her first baby in jungle, seldom reaches in the ears of global media. The scattered stories are left uncared and unheard. My project is about Organizing a series of digital photography group walks where young girls from remote indigenous communities can document life in their community together and create an online Flickr photography exhibit.
What locality or neighborhood will your project focus on?
Birganj, Biratnagar, Kathmandu, Pokhara, Lumbini
Describe the specific community with whom you will be working.
What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
Participant of this project are young girls/women's from remote indigenous communities whose stories of pain and agony is seldom ignored by global media. My project Participant will be filming their own stories; they shall be filming about their life & suffering, their culture & traditions, about their hope and struggle for life. The will be bringing insight into their limited livelihood opportunities and its impact on their health and well being
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?
Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established that will contribute to the success of the project.
Through Social Development Organization Coordination Committee; in coordination with Birganj United and Initiative Nepal, I have arranged to implement the project. They shall be assisting us with logistic and transportation support. They shall be helping us with Youth Volunteers and stationary support for the project.
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?

In the next phase, 2 Weeks basic photography training shall be given to the candidates, followed by 1 week “story telling through photography” training. Great idea to bring these girls together to meet each other and share stories of perhaps similar experiences together.
A few questions: why only focus on pain, agony, and suffering? What about making stories about their own indigenous knowledge and skills that they can share with the world?
Also, after they have participated in the workshop and made the Flickr photo exhibit, do you plan to continue the project and group meetings, or is it a one-time event? Will these girls be able to keep the cameras and continue with their photography?
Laura, thanks a lot for taking your time and reviewing the project. I welcome your viewpoint.
Since, these communities are tortured by a chronic disease called “poverty”, their voices has to be brought to the global media. They are deprived of quality life, i.e; even basic medical facilities and education.
However, they have larger heart and very rich in their culture and tradition. My project was incomplete and your feedback has brought light into it. It would be great, if we help these young girls to bring their indigenous knowledge and traditional skills to the world such that global community would benefit from the indigenous knowledge. I have discussed your idea with the organization supporting me in the ground. They have welcome your idea to handover the girls with the camera and support them with regular followup.
Thanks once again, I will be merging your idea in the original project.
Whereas, there is need for continued support to these girls to keep up with their group meetings and continue with story telling through photography. However; Due to budget constraints; this largely depends on supporting organizations and raising voice continued support to the project.
I consider your feedback as the valuable part of the project.
