Describe the specific community with whom you will be working.
There are approximately 250 households in Bangyal and a total of 20 people will be selected with a 50/50 representation of men and women. The community has no presence online that is why a lively activity of this nature is desperately needed to boost morale of the people and bring their news and stories online to attract more funding for more community development projects.
What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
The people of Bangyal are facing difficulty in dealing with problems such as clean drinking water, lack of road and comfortable public transport. On the positive side, Bangyal is a scenic place that has a potential of attracting tourists and visitors. Apart from that the project team will leave it to the newly trained photographers to catch whatever news and stories they feel like capturing. This strategy can give a remarkable outcome.
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?
Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established that will contribute to the success of the project.
The project organizers, STEP(Special Talent Exchange Program) has established and is successfully running the Bangyal Community school for the last 3 years. About 40 students boys and girls are enrolled in this school and the only available teacher is a person with disabilities. STEP is well respected in Bangyal and this reputation will help in the success of this project.
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
STEP plans to select and train at least 20 participants for BangyaLIFE. Apart from this selection, the whole community of Bangyal will indirectly participate in the project as their pictures will be taken while they are working in their routine life.
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
STEP (Special Talent Exchange Program) is an active Disabled Persons Organization (DPO) that has the required expertise and capabilities to run and support the project. However, funding would be required to activate this support system for BangyaLIFE.
