It is the time that HIV prevention, care & support programs embrace citizen media strategy to multiply the impact by creating youth force at very grass-root level who can be able to significantly use different tools e.g. blogs, social networking sites, mobile phone, digital storytelling/video etc on a large scale with the objective of increasing awareness & decreasing stigma & discrimination, engaging community members & attracting new resources.
Topical focus:
Country:
What locality or neighborhood will your project focus on?
Larkana
Describe the specific community with whom you will be working.
We will work with/train young school students from Resource-Constrained Settings representing HIV affected communities who can further raise their voice effectively in different ways by adopting citizen media tools. In fact, they are the persons who better understand their issues & problems and therefore can express their thoughts accordingly if given them appropriate skills that will ultimately open the new door of hope to have new resources.
What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
1.We will have a resource of training manual after project implementation that can help others to get guidance & enhance their skills.Trained youth will have produced some of the following content & will continue with beyond the project life for the cause:
2.Various digital pictorial & video stories
3.Familiarity & use of various social networking sites
4.Actively & striking blogging,posting and uploading for the cause–citizen journalism
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?
Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established that will contribute to the success of the project.
We plan to approach the professionals & organizations to help us to achieve the desired project outputs such as but not limited to:
a) IT professional persons:who can help to train the participants on creating digital stories etc;
b) Professional photographer:to train on how to shoot breathtaking images & videos;
c) Professional Journalists:training on how to write a news story,to enable them produce their own media to give themselves a voice.
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
Around 25 committed youth from different institutes who can further volunteer imparting the same training to their fellows, will be selected on some set criteria. The trained youth will also be trained on Peer Education & will sign pledges to at least each one teach one. 15 more volunteers who are working on various roles with our helpline will also be trained to work for the cause from the helpline platform and sustain the impact of the project.
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
Besides funding, Rising Voices will be asked for technical guidance on some of the content to make the project more effective and also provide resources on how best we can conduct the project.
