With this project we intend to build virtual bridges between traditional and new technologies as well as elderly and young rural women, with the aim to enable them to promote their products by using ITC and partnerships. 24 women from 12 villages in province of Vojvodina will be trained to prepare virtual catalogs and how to spread them on the internet, which will create new opportunities for them to enter the inter/national market.
Topical focus:
Country:
What locality or neighborhood will your project focus on?
Subotica, 12 vilages in province of Vojvodina, Serbia
Describe the specific community with whom you will be working.
Many rural women in Vojvodina are exposed to high risk of poverty as they are forced to unpaid family farm work (middle age, elderly) or cannot find jobs (educated young). At the same time a lot of them produces high quality traditional gods which they sell only on local fairs for unfair price. With this project we intend to enable them to generate income by using their existing knowledge and skills in combination with new technologies.
What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
The purpose of the 4 planed workshops is to train selected women, how to map their local products, prepare virtual photo catalogs and launch them on the internet.
A central WEB site will be created aimed at raising the visibility of collected materials. It will be linked to individual social networking profiles of each involved village and to other useful internet sources. That will form both a real and a virtual network.
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?
Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established that will contribute to the success of the project.
Through partnerships in projects we established a network of 6 women’s organizations named “Gender and development” . We have good relationships with the Provincial secretariat for labor and gender equality and the provincial Institute for gender equality. We also conducted several mappings of women’s creative resources so we are experienced in this kind of activities. One of the results is the Creative Bazaar on our web site.
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
24 women , will be selected through public competition, that will be spread on internet and in the public media. With the aim to achieve full geographical coverage of province of Vojvodina, we plan to invite women from 12 selected villages. Women , participants in the trainings , will form the CORE GROUP that will initiate the mapping and other activities for the promotion of products of women from their local communities.
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
We will seek for all forms of tools and connections that will help us to implement in practice the ideas of our project. We would also welcome any initiative for networking and exchange of experience through connections on the RAISING VOICES platform.

Hello Ruza Rudic Vranic, I am looking forward to collaborate with you as we have similar interest in promoting the economic power of rural women. I hope we will get the support that we need as rural women are the most vulnerable in every country and their interests are least considered when distributing national cakes.
