Sierra Leone: A Citizen Media Boot Camp for Kokofele

Sembehun Kokofele is a deprived community found in the southern part of Sierra Leone. This village is so deprived that technology and electricity so this project will introduce internet activities to promote them. this will be done in partnership with tutors from Silicon Pro in Freetown to teach the participants about the use the internet as well how to ensure that relevant programs to enhance their development is protrayed in all their events

Describe the specific community with whom you will be working.

the inhabitants of this community have never had such an opportunity to shed light on their own problems because they are in the outskirts of BO. As an organisation, we have been to this community on many occasions to Dialogue about their lifestyle and they share certain beliefs, customs and traditions that many have never seen before. Implementing this will give them the power to tell the world in their own words,how they can make a change

What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?

They will have the opportunity to publish news about their community with regards to the Political administration in the country, Stories about the life of a teenage girl growing in a deprived community, the power of Social Media in a typical society and other interesting events. We will do that through creating blogs, Podcasts and even post videos of the community and short drama for the world to see. We will start online Debates about issues

Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established that will contribute to the success of the project.

we have started plans with Centre for the Coordination of Young Activities (CCYA) for the technical support to evaluate and monitor the process. We have also tried to identify the tutors for the teaching of the ICT skills to the participants and intend to partner with SierraTel for the provision of Internet connectivity

How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?

5 participants will be trained which includes 3 women and 2 men. After this project, we will use the link to source funding from the Internet for the continuation of the project
