None of the leaders of blind person organisations (BPOs) and schools for the blind in Sierra Leone (SL), who are themselves blind or visually-impaired (BVI), can use computers.A few have access to email, but they cannot use it without assistance.This represents a serious challenge to their independence and social inclusion, and to the development of their organisations. All of the active blind civil society leaders in Sierra Leone are either members of Sierra Leone Association of the Blind or members of Vision for the Blind (VFB), or members of both. We are not aware of any other organisations actively campaigning for blind and visually impaired people (BVIPs) to be given access to computers and the internet, although the Educational Centre for BVIPs provides some limited on-and-off training for Blind people SL

A clear understanding of the information, computing and internet needs and aspirations of leading Blind and Visually Impaired in Sierra Leone and how they can access computers and the internet. To rising the voice of disable people to authorities of the Telecommunication commission that blind people can use the ICT as those who are sighted and able. Since people have show some doubt about blind people using ICT, this can create social networking

Sierra Leone Association of Blind & Vision for the Blind will be primarily responsible for: consulting with senior BVIP and the assessment of BPOs and special schools and the survey of internet cafes in Freetown, BO and Makeni; overseeing the training programme and the demonstrations of computing in blind schools; circulating the project overview and organizing the radio work (10 broadcasts); and lobbying members of the Advisory Council on ICT
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
This project targeting fifty blind and visually impaired people, and respected blind V.I.P using computers routinely will provide role models for blind children. also in their lobbying work (including pressing for changes to the Telecommunications Act and demonstrating to the Advisory Council on ICT and Disability Communities how Blind and visually impaired people can use computers/the internet). This will give a room for other donors to come on
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
Braillekey (3), computer (2) , memory stick (10), salary for the Director, salary staff support transport for the trainers, facilitator fees, administrative cost , digite recording tape for blind and visually impaired people, braille materials for blind and visually impaird people (BVIP) and specialist software (NVDA screen reader & the WebbIE browser). This can ensure success of the implementation of the project by providing the items measured
