PeaceItOut (Peace It Out) is a project by the Young Peace Builders in Sierra Leone that is aimed at creating an online and offline interactive forum for youth in Sierra Leone and abroad to share their concerns on issues affecting them and their communities, and further exchange ideas for partnership & collaboration with other youth groups and individuals in different part of the Country and beyond.
Topical focus:
Country:
What locality or neighborhood will your project focus on?
Freetown
Describe the specific community with whom you will be working.
Young Peace Builders is a youth-serving voluntary non-governmental, non-political and non-profit making youth-led organization seeking to create a supportive environment for the survival and development of communities and thus the projected is targeted at youth across the country especially school going creating a platform for exchange and education.
What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
As stated earlier, the forum will be mainly for expression of opinions especially concerning issues of concern in the different communities, in government, in their schools and issues with regards sustainable development & climate change etc. Specific topics will be chosen every month and opinions will be generated for further action by the organization. It is geared towards promoting youth participation in governance & freedom of expression.
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?
Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established that will contribute to the success of the project.
Young Peace Builders is a registered youth-serving organization with partners at local and international levels such as; Impact Generation Ghana, African Centre for Peace Building, Daphne Sawyerr-Dunn Humanitarian Missions USA, the Ministry of Youth Sierra Leone, and Mano River Union Youth Parliament etc.
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
It is intended that with the fund support, Young Peace Builders will create a flexible (easy to use) interactive online website where youth will have to create an account and use that to log in and participate in the forum. In order to achieve such, we shall train as many youth as possible throughout the year starting with a target of 100 youth in the first six month leading to at least 200 trained youth in a year. Sustenance through partnership.
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
We as an organization will appreciate continuous partnership & collaboration in sharing the project with other possible partners, technical support, media instruments such as video camera, editing machine and exchange visits at least to have young people from Rising voices visiting our office in Sierra Leone possibly once a year to engage young people in discussions. Any other support that you also deem necessary would be highly appreciated.

Thank you so much Mr. John Baimba Sesay. We hope you will also share and ensure the participation of youth from China in the project especially to foster mutual exchange of ideas and experience etc.
This project seems brilliant as interactive forums for the youth are the need of the hour. From what I know about Sierra Leone after meeting Herbert, I have faith in their youth and their aspiration to be agents of peace. This seems like to be the perfect platform for ideas to come together and evolve and be realized. Wish you all the best with this Herbert!
Love from Pakistan
Thanks to you Mehwish for wishing our project success. It is our believe that all youth from around the globe shall benefit from this project through participation, collaboration and networking. Sharing and learning is an integral part of this project and we count on all of you to make it happen.
This is awesome. in full support
Thanks
Its a good Project it promotes peace using young people and its worth supporting noting that we need peace in this war torn Africa, where young people are used to advance the agenda of politician.
As it stands Caleb my colleague from Malawi, i see young people as working more in the interest of peace and development instead of politicians if we are given the opportunities required to make that difference. I am hopeful we will with this project start a positive revolution.
Any Youth project that creates a podium for information gathering and sharing would further strengthen the voices of young people in enhancing peace and development. Having read the project outline, I am left with no doubt but to lend my support to the project idea. I would also like to commend the vision and dynamism of the Project Leader, Herbert Bangura. As the Founder of Jobtrain Salone, I look forward to further collaboration with Young Peace Builders.
Roland Parker – London
Thank you so much Mr. Roland from London for endorsing our project. Young Peace Builders is looking forwarding to surely work with your organization Jobtrain Salone in the nearest future.
I can wait to see this project come to fruition. As a young woman there is a lot of issues and if such a forum is established we will have a platform to freely express ourselves and have some of these issues publicly discussed. As women we suffer in isolation and undergo a lot of abuses with less attention given to us by the authorities sometimes for lack of so-called evidence. I only hope and pray that this project by Young Peace Builders is approved. If i should ask, how are the participants for the trainings going be selected and would you take into consideration gender? good luck with your project.
Hi Abigail, thanks for your comment an concerns about the selection process for the project. The Young Peace Builders is cognizance of the importance of gender equity and thus we have put the necessary strategies in place to ensure that we have an equal representation of gender in the entire project.
Mr. Herbert Bangura, this is a very good initiative. I am very impressed in you and your commitment to peace building. This project need to be replicated and I would be happy to work with you and take this to global scale. Sierra Leone and the world need this. How can I help?
