The online Bank of Resources wants to be a virtual space providing practical tools and a platform for exchange and empowerment on conscious consumption. Its main element will be a collaborative map of transformative initiatives around Spain. It will be developed with citizens previously trained and further improved by the online community. By visualizing the existing options and providing resources we aim to inspire and encourage change.

What locality or neighborhood will your project focus on?
Barcelona
Describe the specific community with whom you will be working.
There is a huge and diverse group of individuals and collectives in Spain who are already interested in social and green alternatives, but they seem to be poorly interlinked and represented online. With the participatory bank of resources we want to open new perspectives and learning opportunities by gathering and connecting existing know-how and practices which show how to live more with less.
What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
Content will derive from our own research through Opcions magazine and contributions by individual users and partners. We will collect various practical tools: videos, presentations, reports, blog posts, maps. We explicitly encourage users to upload resources, to create new content and to participate in forums. In a mapping workshop we will identify, review and visualize local initiatives. Its result will benefit anybody searching local options.
Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established that will contribute to the success of the project.
Thanks to our extensive experience in investigating sustainable alternatives, we have connections to the media and civil society associations, among others Ecologistas en Acción, Setem, Xarxa d'Economia Solidària. Several partners we already contacted are willing support us with advise and resources during the project's further development and distribution. We also aim at making new connections once the Bank of Resources is launched.
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
We want to involve a wider public than the 2400 subscribers of our magazine in the Bank of Resources. Therefore there are 2 levels of participation: 1.Everybody can use, discuss and contribute to the tools provided by the site.
2. We will train our strategic partners to hold different, ongoing community mapping workshops. Local participants will learn to explore their neighborhood and enhance our map by uploading sustainable initiatives.
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
We would be happy to be part of the Rising Voices community of projects as we hope that being featured through the Global Voices Network will increase the project’s public attention. The more collaboration and participation we achieve, the more vital, useful and thus successful the Bank of Resources and the map will be. Moreover the network could enable us to make new friends and connect to other like-minded initiatives around the world.
