Hungary: Development of Local Stories in Budapest

Our website is called Jarokelo.hu; here Budapest (Hungary) citizens can report any problem with a photo to their local municipality (eg. potholes, broken street plates etc.). We would like to introduce a mobile application to the website to make the submission of the reports easier. In addition to this we would like to hold two workshops (one for journalists, one for citizen journalists/bloggers) to help the creation of local stories.

Nigeria: Lifesavers Club of Ajegunle

The project aims to build a new culture of community service among young people living in Nigeria’s most popular slum, Ajegunle. We hope to show them a new way to give back and save lives by giving blood while showcasing their works using various social media tools and telling the world their story. It is hoped that this project will introduce these young people to the wondrous tools available to them to reach the world and tell their stories.

Zimbabwe: Empowering Youth and Rural Communities

As Youth Forum Zimbabwe, we want to organize a 1 day workshop in Harare for 20 selected members coming from the 10 administrative provinces (2 from each); 10 from the business world and 10 from civil society. We will teach how to use the internet, mainly mobile, in an effective manner, from both a business and an organizational/informational perspective. Once back in their provinces, the teams of 2 will hold 1 free seminar for their communities

Liberia: Web 2.0 for Social Change

There is a need for local youth to connect, learn, share and understand the usage of social media tools; create and share with network after gaining said knowledge. the core training will be based on blogging, pod-casting, social networking and others media use by urban youth in communications

Uganda: A Day in a Rural Child's Life

Uganda: Using ICT to Monitor Service Delivery

The project will train 30 rural monitors and 10 journalists from the highly mountainous areas of Bundibugyo district which have limited accessibility to government services on how to use the two FM radio stations as a hub to converge information from mobile phone technologies and online social media tools to monitor service delivery and demand accountability. Frontline sms technologies will be installed on FM radio stations and 2 blogs created.

Uganda: Using ICT’s for Legal Access

The project will provide smart phones to 40 already existing AHURIO network of Legal Aid Community Resource persons (LACORPS) and trained in using web 2.0 tools and other smart phones mobile technologies to monitor, document and report cases of human rights violations in Rural Kyegegwa and Kyenjojo districts. After the training cases of human rights abuses will reduce.
