Nigeria: Our Special Needs and Deeds

This will be a multimedia documentary on both the talents and challenges faced by special needs pupils of Omoyeni School for the Handicapped, a boarding school in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. Some of the pupils have been abandoned in the school by parents/guardians. We shall train the pupils on how to shoot simple videos/pictures and produce podcasts.

China: Engaging Digital Tibet: Qinghai

The project will provide young Tibetan students with cameras, photography and web training where they will engage in their local culture by photographing Tibetan material heritage. The photos data will be written by the students and put on a public interactive database. The goal is to inspire Tibetans in China to document and share their rapidly disappearing material heritage with the rest of the world through online photos and articles.

Uganda: #TweepsHelpBududa Experience

The project proposes a unique program to teach and encourage the youth from Bugisu who were affected by the landslides to innovatively use social media to share their culture and call for actions for social change through citizen media training workshops. The project’s ultimate goal is to create a vibrant network of the new generation who use citizen media to share information and celebrate the impact of #TweepsHelpBududa as a successful example.

Uganda: Removing Barriers for an Inclusive Society

The projects major aim will be empowering PwDs with information Communication technology skills to enable them share their life stories and raise awareness on issues affecting their full inclusion in the community. They will be trained on how to document, video film, photographt and testify touching stories that can later be used for advocacy. This project will benefit 50 PwDs in Kasese directly. And in the long run these will also train others.

Obviously, different countries have different viewpoints on the same news. Once we can get the news from different places, translated into different languages by users, then we can get a clearer picture of the fact, judging by ourselves with diverse sources of information.

Ukraine: Visualization of Local Internet Media
