Moldova: Link Towards Democratization

The project “Link towards democratization” aims to encourage the youngsters from Moldova to identify the problems their places of origin encounter as well as to draw a map of these issues and to create a radiography of this society through their lens. We are interested to find out how the young people prioritize the social problems such as unemployment, poverty, corruption, minority discriminations, and the persistence of a cold conflict.

Kenya: Arid Lands Community Journalism Project

The project wishes to train professional community journalists who will run a community blog that will provide updates on news, events and projects within the community. The project aims to empower community members with professional journalism skills that will enable them cover and address their issues from their own perspective giving them the power to monitor their leaders and projects that are within their society through a blog.

Kenya: Watch This Space

Slum communities in Kenya are largely inhabited by low income earners, a good number of whom are either illiterate, partly educated or lacking in skills. These communities are marginalized not only by the society they are part of but also authorities who only remember them in times of tragedies. Our project will train slum residents how to tell their stories through video and pictures and share the same with the world through the social media.

Croatia: Zmreza, Young People Become Journalists

Z press is also the name of the portal, which is the platform of the project itself. It is a portal into the Zagorje region of Croatia, which has only 130,000 inhabitants. Our goal is to set foot on an independent platform that will serve as a place where residents can express their problems. The portal is designed for supporting the sport and culture, as well as encouraging people to expose the corruption and injustice in the local community.

Uganda: Citizens Voices

Citizens Voices Teaching local residents to record and edit audio recordings on Audacity for a community podcast that can be uploaded online, as well as distributed to local radio stations for a wider reach. As a response to mounting concerns over poor service delivery, low productivity of public investments; escalating corruption in Amuria District, Eastern Ugand; the need for community ‘watch dog’ initiatives to enhance solidarity.
