Nigeria: Internet Use for Deaf Students
This project is targeted towards training deafs in selected special secondary schools to use the internet to surf information, open emails and acess social networking egFacebook. I have comunication skill in american sign language(ASL) and so versed on the use of internet.I ‘ll be working with other resource persons and interpreters who will carry the participants along with good visual teaching aids and each participants practically involved.
Sierra Leone: Computing for Blind and Visually-impaired Professionals
None of the leaders of blind person organisations (BPOs) and schools for the blind in Sierra Leone (SL), who are themselves blind or visually-impaired (BVI), can use computers.A few have access to email, but they cannot use it without assistance.This represents a serious challenge to their independence and social inclusion, and to the development of their organisations. It is also bad for the next generation because little is being done to change
Bangladesh: Promoting PWDs As Social Ambassador
AUDC will launch 24 months project in Chittagong City Corporation area with a goal to establish disabled people leaded by Person with Disabilities (PWD’s). As social entrepreneur they will change the negative view of community towards them and create their rights concern following CRPD. To achieve this goal AUDC will create 2 groups of 10 Disabled people with their 1 helping hand peer. This group will work on the aspect of CRPD for rights.
Pakistan: Radio Vision
Aiming to provide a job market to youth with visually impairments. Radio Vision Pakistan is a project initiated by Visionary Foundation Pakistan, for persons with visual impairments, in this online radio, RJ’s that will conduct the show will be persons with visual impairments. This unique project will open a new window of job opportunities for persons with visual impairments also play a very vital role in the mainstream of the society.
Georgia: Disability Visibility
The project goal is to bring the challenges facing people with disabilities at the centre of online discourse in Georgia. By offering personal stories of a group of disabled individuals, the project hopes to show that disability need not be viewed as a financial and social burden. We need to create a pool of strong, productive and active disabled individual who can in turn change the image of disability in the country by powerful online presence.
Kenya: Voices of The Disabled (VOTED)
The VOTED project will train persons with disabilities by use of voice activated software, to use Citizen Journalism and speak out on issues affecting them and how to make society more inclusive for PWD’s. These issues include lack of accessible facilities, access to technology, educational facilities and job opportunities. This will be accomplished through the launch of an online magazine creating awareness through social media and radio stations.
Uganda: Breaking the Silence on Disability
Disability in Uganda is largely associated with witchcraft and as a result PWDS are stigmatized and discriminated in the social network of society. We hope to fight this through raising awareness among the local communities by creating a platform where parents can freely share their experiences/ testimonies in raising these children and later to be able to advocate for their rights. These stories will be captured in newsletters and broadcasted.
