Nigeria: Internet Use for Deaf Students

This project is targeted towards training deafs in selected special secondary schools to use the internet to surf information, open emails and acess social networking egFacebook. I have comunication skill in american sign language(ASL) and so versed on the use of internet.I ‘ll be working with other resource persons and interpreters who will carry the participants along with good visual teaching aids and each participants practically involved.

As social entrepreneur they will change the negative view of community towards them and create their rights concern following CRPD. To achieve this goal AUDC will create 2 groups of 10 Disabled people with their 1 helping hand peer. This group will work on the aspect of CRPD for rights.

Kenya: Voices of The Disabled (VOTED)

The VOTED project will train persons with disabilities by use of voice activated software, to use Citizen Journalism and speak out on issues affecting them and how to make society more inclusive for PWD’s. These issues include lack of accessible facilities, access to technology, educational facilities and job opportunities. This will be accomplished through the launch of an online magazine creating awareness through social media and radio stations.

Uganda: Breaking the Silence on Disability

Disability in Uganda is largely associated with witchcraft and as a result PWDS are stigmatized and discriminated in the social network of society. We hope to fight this through raising awareness among the local communities by creating a platform where parents can freely share their experiences/ testimonies in raising these children and later to be able to advocate for their rights.
