Malawi: Community Radio for Accountability and Transparency
Decentralized local governance in Malawi has not succeeded in enhancing transparency and accountability. This is, in part, due to passiveness of community. This project aims to use Community Radio as a platform to excite the local people into action. To support the issue-based radio programming will be Citizen Journalists who will make follow-ups on development projects and report on the same through the Community Radio regularly.
Poland: Now it's your Turn – Everyone has a Voice!
The project is the inclusion of the urban community to the wider city driving – Citizen participation. People have to have a place where divulge their grievances to the authorities, ideas for improvements, questions to the government. If this option does not give us the direct authority – let's do it ourselves. Blogging platform, in which every citizen will be able to comment on issues related to the functioning of the city.
Uganda: Ghalálá Online
During the colonial rule Busoga kingdom used to get orders from Buganda kingdom and due to language barrier they could make mistakes during execution of the orders, after the mistakes the Basoga people were continuously abused and they were psychologically tortured which resulted into inferiority complex and the Basoga abandoned their language and resorted to Luganda and English.
Nigeria: Using Media for Community Development
Media for community development is a project that intends to attract development to the marginalized communities of Mpape and Gurku, by empowering the communities to share their plights, stories and history online between and among other networks and the general online community. These communities lack infrastructure and are in inhumane condition. The project intends to train selected women and youths social networking, blogging & internet.
Ukraine: Building Collaboration and Transparency
“Ukraine has severe and worsening problems with economic inequality, which in turn are fueling corruption and poor governance.” (Economist Intelligence Unit) Technology training courses in Lugansk for NGOs and govt will increase transparency and trust as well as maximize the reach of current services. Video sharing will help individuals create a forum for sharing issues and developing collaborative solutions; connecting individuals with services
Ukraine: “Media and Society”
The project is aimed at facilitating the creation of the Crimean socially oriented media content with focus on issues that affect the daily life of the Crimean population. The project will promote the thesis that ordinary people can be journalists for their communities. It will include a series of actions that will allow to attract local population to the collection, creation and dissemination of information of public interest.
D. R. of Congo: All in Minova Informed
AMI is a capacity building initiative aiming to facilitate access to information for marginalized people and give them the opportunity to share information on their situation, challenges and perspectives. Beneficiaries will receive training in computing and access to an internet facility and guidance
Uganda: Created Spaces for Gender Budgeting
Gender inequality and imbalance are serious human rights challenges that are exacerbated by lack of gender budgeting in Uganda. This project will seek to address gender budgeting needs through ICT in order to promote transparency, accountability and participation of women, men, boys and girls in decisions that affect their lives. Gender budgeting can lead to gender mainstreaming which is one of the important strategies for reducing inequality
Uganda: Promoting Peoples Voice in Social Accountability
The Project intends to promote the Voice of non state actors of poor women and Children in Uganda to face their citizen to demand service delivery and report shoddy work to relevant Authorities. Over 2,000,000 people will be targeted using FM Radios, Mobile Phones, Balk sms,Twitter and U tube and IEC Materials. From Five districts, People will be mobilized to ask their leaders about service delivery and be able to share reports on the performance
Madagascar: Legal Advisory in Live Broadcast
Project based on putting into operation of a channel for people to report corruption and abuses cases. A series of live broadcasting will take place in two regional cities. Each issue includes a short oral presentation on a specific topic. Then, the floor is given to listeners through phone calls. Before the series of broadcasting, training sessions will be held to familiarize the targeted population on the concept corruption and abuses
