What locality or neighborhood will your project focus on?

The pilot project will be in Gulu District

Describe the specific community with whom you will be working.

This area has been ravaged by a civil war for over 20years defined by massive killings, abduction,displacement of people, humanitarian crisis & other forms of Human Rights violation. All this made it “extremely” difficult to access almost all social amenities including the Internet. This project creates the opportunity for the returnees to meet every after say a month,work on their stories, screen and blog them to the global community.

What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?

Trainees will be able to relay these heartrending stories and share experiences, new ideas and best practices both within their societies and from the global community on how to fully recover from this traumatic situation. This will be done through audio recordings,Videos & short films, news articles, still photographs and Blogs to be screened in open-air & shared online.

Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established that will contribute to the success of the project.

Being already involved in Electronic Media training & production (see www.emede.org), we are partnering with among others, a local CBO in GULU called Youth Photography Outreach- Uganda that offers training in Still photography to these youths.This will avail us with training space and some training equipment. We also establishing partnership with NUSAF, a government initiative spearheading transition in this region.

How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?

We expect to begin with 50 participants.Our Partner YPO-Uganda together with local authorities will be engaged to identify and mobilize participants. Refreshments and modest transport allowances will be provided to sustain them.

Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?

We would very much appreciate if you could provide us with basic audio-recorders, basic video & still photographic cameras. We also plan to sustain and spread this project to other areas of the region, so we require long term partnerships.
