GCHI proposes to use its established public Library in empowering Farmers in ICT to improve their livelihood by to inviting them to discuss local problems, solutions and train them how to create a group blog to take these conversations to the wider community. This project seeks to facilitate exchange of knowledge among the farmers involved in both the production of cash /food crop.

Describe the specific community with whom you will be working.
The project is targeting 200 resource poor and active rural subsistence farmers, particularly women farmers. This is in recognition of the significant role women play in food production enterprises. The selected farmers will be trained through a rural Field Laboratory. The direct beneficiaries will have specialised training in digital and information literacy and at the same time they will be empowered on how to manage their own information.
What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
Our Vision for the content is to invest in use of different communication modes such as, Printed materials such as flyers, T-shirts, Posters and other IEC materials bringing communication to the targeted farmers in Mityana.
The Citizen media output that will be created by the participants include maps, blog drafts, digital photographs.
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?
Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established that will contribute to the success of the project.
The Mityana District Local Government will provide technical support through availing the agriculture staff and IT staff to support the project. The IT focal person will work closely with the Library IT staff during the training of farmers. They will be beefed up with another expert from Stacs IT Consult who will provide back up support.
Radio Skynet will support the project through Radio talk shows as the Radio covers the whole of the District.
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
The project is targeting 200 resource poor and active rural subsistence farmers, particularly women farmers.
GCHI will play a role in identification of beneficiaries as it already has livelihood structures in the areas such as Village savings groups
