The projects will teach youth in agriculture on how to use smart phone technology and online social networks to increase their productivity in agriculture through knowledge sharing and learning about good farming practices with other youths in the same sector. All the information generated from the youth will be posted on an online social network platform for discussion. Trainings/workshops will be held to teach youth on how to use these media.

Describe the specific community with whom you will be working.
This project intends to work with youth between the age of 18-35 who are actively involved in small or medium scale agriculture business in a rural setting. Emphasis will be on building their capacity on how to use smart phones to document their day to day experiences, learn & share information with other fellow youths through an online platform.
What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
The project will collect information from these youth farmers about approved good farming practices and other day to day experiences on their farm/shop. Information will be in form of short clip videos, photos and other data. An online social network will be created of which information can be posted on for discussion.
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?

We plan partner with a renowned citizen media journalist with rich experience in ICT for development affairs. We shall work hand in hand with them to help us achieve our project goals and objectives. We also plan to partner with smart phone company distributors as well.
How many participants do you think will be involved in your project?
The 100 project participants will be selected from already existing youth group in Luwero district. The increasing mobile phone technology trends which has exited millions youth across the globe and above all in the less developed countries like Uganda, by this project using technology to increase youth participation in agricultural production and productivity it will make it very easy for the project team to seek and sustain the project.
Besides the microgrant funding, what other resources and support are you seeking for your project to ensure its success?
This project mainly involves use of smart phones; we shall therefore need financial resources to purchase a number of them for only outstanding active youth participants who can’t afford them. We shall also need Rising Voices to link us to other likeminded professionals or organizations to help us make this project a success.
