Pahichan or Identity in one of the only LGBTI radio program in Nepal having both online and radio program for LGBTI . It provides information for SOGI people to convince Nepali society to respect the human rights and to empower these minorities to push for their rights. It was formed in 2011 and works in 13 FM stations and delivers information and all the activities are highlighted online, but most of news are in Nepali hindering other international community to understand the work done in Nepal. Hence the project intends to translate the work done in English and share to other community.

Pahichan or Identity project will work with LGBTI community across Nepal and will share all the, Human Rights, success stories, challenges, activities , good practice and different program conducted by the LGBTI community in Nepal. It intends to work with them as there is existance of Stigma and Discrimination like in other countries of the world. Most of them are not so well educated but they can reflect their views and ideas in different levels. Some of them are graduates but their spoken language in English is not upto mark. Hence the are unable to share their issues and problems to the international community. They look forward to share their problems and had request the Pahichan or Identity project to work on it so that their work and other information could be highlighted online.
Who else will be on your team to help implement the project?
Young people; students, job seekers, bankers, development workers, media personnel will be part of the project highlighting the issues of LGBTI in Nepal. The media team comprising LGBTI community and Madhav Dhulal, the radio journalist will play a vital role to in-cooperate all the issues of LGBTI , In addition, there will be an English translator, translating all the news in English for the international community alike ILGA in Asia.

What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
The main objectives of the project to support the LGBTI community in Nepal understanding their issues. The project intends to cover wide range of information from LGBTI community across Nepal and will share Human Rights violence,stigma, discrimination, school, problem faced in different areas, success stories, challenges, activities , good practice and different programs conducted in Nepal.
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?
Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established or plan to establish that will contribute to the success of the project.
Blue Diamond Society, the founder organization working for LGBTI rights since 2001 will be a major partnerships in the process of working in the project. The CBOs working in 31 districts will be additional partnerships for the rights and dignity of LGBTI community people. in the process of translation, ILGA work and ASIA will be coordinating and cooperating in future to understand the work of SOGI in Nepal.
How many participants do you think will be trained in your project?
Six LGBTI community people will be trained as journalists in Nepal.Once they get trained and translated in English, the program will be able to share the issues world wide, enhancing the well being of the community. Once they are provided with skills and trainings, there will be no need to put additional effort from government or other agencies. The skills and trainings will be further shared amongst the other unemployed people making more skilled and trained manpower in the country. Moreover, the program will initiate them to enhance further and to be more productive citizen of Nepal. Hence, it will have a ripple effect creating more jobs and open the horizon. This project will improve livelihood of the unemployed and help in reducing the poverty of Nepal to some extend.
Describe which technologies, tools, and media you will focus on when training participants.
The media training will get information on radio journalism, put some information in different areas, online and blogging and social networking, This are necessary tools and there is requirement of such technology to aware the international community on the existance of LGBTI community in Nepal.
Describe the facilities where you will hold the workshops.
We have our own facilities, radio station, IT people working for the rights of community people. We have trained journalist working in one of the most well known radio in Nepal. There is all the facilities including internet connection speed, ADSL, Dial-Up or USB modems, etc.
What is your current relationship with the community with whom you plan to work? What makes you the most appropriate individual or organization to implement this project?
We need to work for the community and empower them. I work as Radio Journalist and try to provide information in different levels including changes in policy , work and understanding of LGBTI community in Nepal. I believe in community and community laden project. So this project based activities are worth well.
What specific challenges do you expect to face when planning and implementing your project?
The information might not be viable in different areas. The international community might not be able to view the work in action. There might be delay in reporting sometimes. To overcome such problem, we intend to work with different stakeholders and coordinate with them in different levels for understanding.
How will you measure and evaluate the project’s impact, specifically: your primary participants, the wider regional community, or the global digital community?
The work done , the IVR number, the web site total , like pages in facebook, the comments, the letter sent the telephone and fax , the comments from international community, etc
