This is a filmmaking project to capture Balinese young people (high school students) daily lives – how they use their time, what they like doing, where they hang out, and their interconnection with communities. The documentary film is to reflect on the future of Bali young generation. Parents, teachers, policy makers and Bali indigenous community group can learn from the movie to better facilitate ideas, creativity and freedom of expression of young people. These students will be the main actors, movie makers, and also directors of this collective-made documentary film.

Describe the specific population with whom you will be working.
The project will work with a group of students of State Vocational High Schools (SMK) in Bali that have the skills and knowledge to filmmaking they receive from their studies. With so many SMK in multimedia studies, Bali is lacking a channel or group for these students to express their creativity and shared with each other. They have been expressing high interest for a project that enable them to collaborate with students of various multimedia schools. With above-the-average skills on multimedia, internet and social media tools, their creativity is scattered and are not focused that unable them to make something that is benefited as a learning experience tool for their future.
Who else will be on your team to help implement the project?
IDEP Media Unit team will lead the project, with a well-known Indonesia documentary filmmaker Gede Sugiarta as the Director of the Unit.

What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
The documentary film will capture a one-day activity of young people (students) of State Vocational High Schools and will be screened in various schools. Footages will shown various activities in a day, ranging from the time before going to school, in the classroom, doing practices, participate in community's traditional ceremonies, their extra curricula work, after-school activities, hang out night, and so on and so forth.

Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established or plan to establish that will contribute to the success of the project.
IDEP Media Unit has a discussion group of young people in various groups (mostly in NGO work) around the country, including Bali, to share ideas and knowledge on community media advocacy work. The team have started an assessment to local vocational schools a year ago and received the interest to have what the project is proposing. Once the proposal approved, the team will visit and initiate a collaboration to 5 multimedia vocational schools in three districts in Bali (Klungkung, Gianyar and Denpasar). Numbers of students ask to be participated are estimated 500 students.
How many participants do you think will be trained in your project?
There will not be any specific training on skills of media making; however, during film screenings, the team will also distribute educational flyers on media advocacy and community development tools to increase students awareness on environmental and community development issues.
Describe which technologies, tools, and media you will focus on when training participants.
As the targeted students for this project already have skills on media development, Media Unit will share the community development and media advocacy point of view i.e. how to make an effective media advocacy to deliver messages related to social and environmental movement issues.
Describe the facilities where you will hold the workshops.
The targeted students will use their own media tools, during film screening Media team will prepare (if not available in schools) high resolution overhead projectors and audio tools.
What is your current relationship with the community with whom you plan to work? What makes you the most appropriate individual or organization to implement this project?
IDEP Media Unit have not yet initiate a connection with the targeted schools. Nonetheless, IDEP Media Unit is the perfect team to implement the project due to our extensive experience in videography, filmmaking and print media production (since 1999 as part of the IDEP Foundation's department).
Our knowledge in community development advocacy issue is a valuable knowledge to introduce the current generation its sensitiveness to connect to social and environmental issues and movements.
What specific challenges do you expect to face when planning and implementing your project?
Some challenges, if any, that the team considers a minor risk is a reluctant from the teachers to support the project due to IDEP work in social and environmental issues which is different than the school's main focus in specifically technical knowledge on audio visual media development. Nonetheless, IDEP Foundation is a well-known and reputable Organisation with extensive network in educational sector will smooth the networking process during assessment activity.
How will you measure and evaluate the project’s impact, specifically: your primary participants, the wider regional community, or the global digital community?
The success of the project will be measure by number of hits of the movie in youtube channel.

The project is set to commence from mid July to end of September 2014.
