This project aims to create websites for schools in Cameroon, train teachers on how to update the website and also how to use social media in schools.
We hope that by the end of the project, 500 primary and secondary schools in Cameroon have websites and are able to use social media to sell the schools mission.
This project would therefore facilitate communication with schools, train teachers on how to update the school's website and also how to use social media in schools.

Describe the specific population with whom you will be working.
I will be working with primary schools, secondary schools and high schools. The need for this project is particularly relevant for Cameroonian schools because although we are in the information age, many schools in Cameroon still don't have websites and dont understand the need for web 2.0.
This project would not only breakdown the digital barrier, but would also encourage school proprietors to adopt and incorporate information Communications Technology in their schools.

What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
The head teachers of the various schools we work with will be required to provide information about the schools, subjects taught in schools, admission procedure, vacancies, contact information and also pictures to be used for the websites.

We are currently doing this project in collaboration with via Africa Foundation and they would provide be responsible for hosting the websites while AFRICICTED will work with schools in Cameroon to train them on updating this websites.

500 teachers.
Our offices would be open for any technical or training needs this teachers may require.
Describe which technologies, tools, and media you will focus on when training participants.
We the project organizers have appropriate IT skills to support the project. We will be necessary for all the technical requirements regarding website hosting, set-up and training.
Many learners in Cameroon, especially in secondary and high schools are already using social media and accessing contents through the internet. A website would also be an appropraite means for this learners to communicate with their schools. Apart from this, website offer such schools global visibility.
By training teachers on how to update websites and also use Facebook in their schools, we will be aligning the needs of the learners with that of the school.
Describe the facilities where you will hold the workshops.
We would hold training sessions in classrooms in schools around the country. During this sessions, we would use laptops, projectors and USB modems.
What is your current relationship with the community with whom you plan to work? What makes you the most appropriate individual or organization to implement this project?
I am a Cameroonian and my organisation has been working in Cameroon Since 2012. We are familial with the context.
What specific challenges do you expect to face when planning and implementing your project?
Teachers may be technophobic.
How will you measure and evaluate the project’s impact, specifically: your primary participants, the wider regional community, or the global digital community?
The impact would be measured by noting number of schools with functioning websites and also noting how they use social media to sell the schools mission.

April 2014: meeting with propprietors of Schools
May 2014: Start of website creation and social media training at schools.
