After an intensive national training they will work in peer and go to rural area of Madagascar where Young people doesnt have access or doesnt even know Facebook or the internet to capture their lives, spend time to understand their challenges and share them online through photography
Topical focus:
Country:
What locality or neighborhood will your project focus on?
Antananarivo
Describe the specific population with whom you will be working.
Madagascar has currently over 5.7 million adolescents and youth aged 10 to 24 which represent 32% of the total population, this will double by 2025. Although they represent an important demographic bonus, a large number of these young people face considerable hurdles in participating in economic, social and political spheres of life as result of inadequate access to education and training. 80% of these Young people are living in rural area where access to internet is limited even inexistant. They are the voiceless and missing on the web, first because they are IT illiterate but most of all nobody ever tried to include them in the debate
Who else will be on your team to help implement the project?
we will collaborate with local youth professional photographer to build our capacity in photography

What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
we will have a blog with more than 5000 pictures and videos that tell the story of ordinary malagasy Young people. We will compare them to ongoing discussion and international debate around post2015 agenda, trying to give a face to what is discussed actually and who's futures are at stake in those discussion. While may youth organisation are doing their best to make the process as inclusive as possible, it is important to note that a big part of Young people who are IT literate are excluded to those consultation. With the boom of internet and Facebook, so many youth organisation are taking it for granted and just assume that every Young people are the same, that we all have same access to resources and information. Our project will break this cycle of assumption
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?
Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established or plan to establish that will contribute to the success of the project.
Our organisation already collaborâtes with Rindra Andriamahefa the photographer, he is one of our mentor and already provides technical assistance in media development, The other people we are targeting are all colleagues and friends of our mentor and will be easy to mobilise. For this specific program will work with National organisation of Girl and boy scout, the biggest youth organisation which has national coverage. These organisation has the grassrrot acnhorage needed for the idenitication of the participants in our training and those organisations will need those skills for future work
How many participants do you think will be trained in your project?
As stated below we will collaborate with the national organisation of Girl and Boys scouts, We will select participants based on ongoing membership and good reference from those two organisations. We will emphasise on the fact that those participants must be aged between 18 and 22 and have leadership position within their local organisation. Membership within those big organisation will ensure that those skills will be easily replicated and by investing in those members we are also building the capacity of the organisation and are creating local expertise
Describe which technologies, tools, and media you will focus on when training participants.
Photography tells millions of words: we would like to train our participants in capturing photos that tells stories and can be an advocacy tool. Photo is the best and easiest tool accessible for any Young people who has a mobile phone. Our organisation has a strong expertise in leading youth consultation and we will peer it up with photography
Describe the facilities where you will hold the workshops.
We will gather participants in Antananarivo ( we will invite Young people from different régions of Madagascar to come and gather for one week) .
We will use 10 laptops and use 3 modems to initiate those Young people to online content and give them an idea on how their work will be published
What is your current relationship with the community with whom you plan to work? What makes you the most appropriate individual or organization to implement this project?
For over fifteen years, I served as volunteer and member for an affiliated national organisation of WAGGGS, a global movement reaching 10 million women and girls in over 100 countries, building on its almost 100 year history of women’s organizing; focusing on girl’s leadership, strategic service delivery for girl’s empowerment and supporting girl to claim their rights while influencing and shaping global policy. Since May 2013, I am currently serving as Gender Equity Coordinator for a USAID funded project. As such I identify gender-based barriers and constraints to access health care services services, as well as opportunities to increase gender equality throughout the project.
What specific challenges do you expect to face when planning and implementing your project?
The challenge I oversee is Young people confidency in creating a Professional content that can be an effective advocacy Tools but I am confident that our mentorship program will tackle this challenge
How will you measure and evaluate the project’s impact, specifically: your primary participants, the wider regional community, or the global digital community?
I will evaluate the success of the program based on the product each of the participants will produice. We will create Facebook page and present our work in different youth forra and will identify best ways to communicate about our work.

Besides the microgrant funding, what other support can Rising Voices provide for your project to ensure its success?
We would be gratefull if Rising Voices STAFF can provide mentorship to our trainees furing the course of the implementation of the grant. Malagasy Young people due to language barrières are really lacking connexion with other resource person from the English speaking world. We will also value if Rising voices can support us in publishing our work through your Platform and connect us with other Young people who are doing similar work so we can leverage the impact of our advocacy work. We would also like to access any ressources developed by Rising voices, any printed materials are soo valuable for malagasy Young people.
