The project will strengthen the only Youth Newspaper in Cajamarca, Colombia, to inform community about the grave Human Rights situation (two enviromentalist murders) , the mining impacts, the women claim, the citizen participation, etc, generating a concrete possibility to facilitate that each person in the world can accede to information that the newspaper publishes in a virtual platform. To the success of the project is necessary supplies training about design and use of websites, also acquire equipment, the trainig and link of digital reporters.

Youth Digital Newspaper (YDN) will work with 20 young people between 14 and 26 years old, who have the vocation to social journalist and hope to publish their journalist reports in digital way, as they have building with the print newspaper, this fact will strengthen that community interested in obtain the information in virtual media, as young people have been a greatful and respectful process for the community because younh people have shared their knowledge.

What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
YDN will include about local news, also regional and national news that are interesting to the general community, the digital journalist reports will divide in some aspects like HUMAN RIGHTS, LAND AND SOVEREIGNTY, THE WOMAN ROLE IN THE COMMUNITY, CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTION,THE ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION AND COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION WITH COMPLAINTS, QUESTIONS, NAGGING AND CONSTRUCTIVE OPINION . Taking into account in Cajamarca, the traditional and privade mass media don’t express an imparcial point of view and reality facts, provocading desinformation and guile to the community. The information will publish for narrative and informative texts, opinions, chronics, enterviews, photography, voice recording and some videos.
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?
Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established or plan to establish that will contribute to the success of the project.
In this moment we have been ally with others organizative processes like Minga Juvenil, solidarity with political prisioners committee and the regional magazine “Tejiendo Agrodescendencia” . YDN will secure the connections with the broadcasting station online “Tu Radio” and the social comunication and journalist programme of University of Tolima and the cultural magazine “ El Salmón Urbano” to the success project.
How many participants do you think will be trained in your project?
Youth Digital Newpaper (YDN) will consolidate the journalist training for 20 young and digital reporters who the same time they will share their knowledge with their family and friends. To encourage and motivate the participation, the project will finance the costs of transport and refreshment in the training, also will create a micro-fund to award the digital reporters skills and the contents production to YDN from composition documents, photography, drawings and comics, and the maintenance and actualization of website. The Budget will distributed in a way that recognize each 20 digital reporters efforts.
Describe which technologies, tools, and media you will focus on when training participants.
The Project team have experience in composition documents, design and diffusion of Independent Newspaper in Cajamarca, will reach digitizing the newspaper with their own knowledge and a profesional help.
The training will teach to write a determined text, photography and video techniques and the most important the Access and use website training, also integral use of social networks to divulge the Youth Digital Newspaper.
Describe the facilities where you will hold the workshops.
The trainings will realice in Cajamarca community lounge, it’s a comfortable space with sufficient tables and chairs. We only have 1 computer , 2 videobeams and 1 digital camera. The Project will acquire a laptop, a profesional camera and internet conecction 2GB. However is important say 15 digital reporters have table computers in their house and only 5 of them have internet Access of 500 MB.
What is your current relationship with the community with whom you plan to work? What makes you the most appropriate individual or organization to implement this project?
The group of digital reporters have been participate in the print newspaper, they have done a good work methology. Also this media has achieve a good relation with the community, will take into account it to realice a success virtual newspaper endure over time and this young jourmalist assume the compromises and autonomy to use and actualization Youth Digital Newspaper.
What specific challenges do you expect to face when planning and implementing your project?
Will be neccesary to be part to Fundacion para la Libertad de Informacion y Prensa (FLIP) and other organizations, to prevent situations of our Human Rights violation like freedom of expression, because in this moment there many Human Rights violations, due multiple intentions of aggresion for part with armed legal or illegal forces and the multinational mining AngloGold Ashanti.
How will you measure and evaluate the project’s impact, specifically: your primary participants, the wider regional community, or the global digital community?
Our main goa lis create a virtual tool to be able to comunicate Colombia solidarity countries and others, what really happens in our country, region and town.
The success Project will measure with the Young reporters contents production to Youth Digital Newspaper, the virtual newspaper sustainability, the coooperative and solidarity work between the journalist, finally the website visits and the comments to the contents production.
