My project would focus on a workshop to inform and re-orientate my community members on water and sanitation issues in order to help eliminate the recurring incidences of cholera and typhoid as a result of the unwholesome sources of water the community members fetch for domestic use in their homes. The need to change the already held erroneous impressions on health living and environmental issues would be changed after the workshop. participants that would be trained are going to be the real vanguard s of the change because convincing video and audio evidences would be used at the workshop.

What locality or neighborhood will your project focus on?
Owerri
Describe the specific population with whom you will be working.
The community has a population of about 15000 inhabitants and the percentage of the population with internet access is about 10000. This is because most of then have mobile phones which they use in accessing information online and connecting to social media networks.
For several years, they have clamored for a portable water source and a substantial number of then including women groups within the community contributed specifically to this project proposal.
Who else will be on your team to help implement the project?
I have assembled some youths who would help me run this project. They are passionate individuals who hav ein the past contributed to community development. They are Felix Tyokase=https://www.facebook.com/fanentyokase?fref=ts
Doris Omorodion =https://www.facebook.com/doris.omorodion.37?fref=ts
precious Eberechi David= https://www.facebook.com/precious.david.50?fref=ts
What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
The participants are expected to have a change of orientation about health and sanitation issues. they are also expected to train and inform other community members based on what they have learned from the workshop.
I plan to make the discussions at the workshop as robust as possible and to offer the participants a veritable platform to share ideas and expound on their understanding of sanitation, water and health issues
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?
Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established or plan to establish that will contribute to the success of the project.
we have contacted the paramount ruler of the community and he has lent his support to us. we are also in constant touch with other willing donors in the community who would fund the bore-hole project for the community we plan to initiate.
How many participants do you think will be trained in your project?
I and my team are expecting about 1200 participant that would be trained. They would be the vanguard that would ultimately retrain the majority of the people and ensure that the benefits of the project and its sustainability is assured and guaranteed.
Describe which technologies, tools, and media you will focus on when training participants.
We would deploy computer and visual graphics to marshal out our points to the participants. A power point facility would also be used. I and my team are versed and proficient in public speaking and we are computer literate. Thus, using a computer or internet facility would not be of any problem at all.
Describe the facilities where you will hold the workshops.
The workshop would be held in the community school auditorium. computers and projectors would be fixed and power point presentations would also be used in passing out information. A standby electricity source would also be provided to guarantee adequate and uninterrupted power supply.
What is your current relationship with the community with whom you plan to work? What makes you the most appropriate individual or organization to implement this project?
I am an indigene of this community and I know the needs of the community and the personalities that can support the project and galvanize other individuals to participate actively. Moreover my level of education and experience as a University graduate puts me on a high pedestal to execute this project.
What specific challenges do you expect to face when planning and implementing your project?
There would be no serious challenge to be faced during the execution of the project aside the normal logistic problems since it is a semi urban community. There would be no security concerns either> however, the local police unit in the community would be adequately informed to provide a cover during the project duration as a preemptive measure.
How will you measure and evaluate the project’s impact, specifically: your primary participants, the wider regional community, or the global digital community?
The project would be of immense benefit to the community because audio and video information materials would be used to enlighten then on the dangers of poor sanitation and improper disposal of domestic and human waste within the community. since most of the community members have access to mobile phones, it would be easier to change their orientation on the practice of poor sanitary behavior which they had imbibed in time past.
After the project, there would be a significant change in the attitude of the people as an appeal fund would be initiated to raise money for the construction of a bore hole for the community.
If your project were to be selected as a Rising Voices grantee, what would be the general timeline of project activities in 2014?
The project would take 2weeks to be completed.
day1 to day4 = Introduction and Training and resource leaders
day5 to day9 =Demonstration, visual exposure and fieldwork
day10 to day1 =Question and answer sessions, remarks and commitment
The resource leaders that would be trained at the initial stages of the project would coordinate the groups and ensure continuity even after the end of the project
Detail a specific budget of up to $2,500 USD for operating costs.
Transportation=$500
Internet access=$600
Travel and co-coordinator expenses=$400
workshop costs=$1000
Besides the microgrant funding, what other support can Rising Voices provide for your project to ensure its success?
Rising voices can help the community in advocacy on how to lead hygienic and sanitary lives and avoid contacting diseases through the use of contaminated water. rising voices can also link the community to donor agencies that would help in other areas of development such as family planning and agricultural activities.
