In Moulvibazar the literacy rate is significantly low and there is little knowledge and awareness on harmful effect of tobacco use. The poor day labourers, adibashi, women, boys, teachers, religious leaders, Mattabbar, UP Members, Chairmans take beedis, cigarettes, tobacco with betel leaf and other tobacco products ignoring country's legislation and FCTC convention. CANCER (Cooperation & Assistance for Narcotic Control for Enlighten Human Resources) Project aims to educate/capacitated to local level administration and community for ensuring smoke free environment involving UP/Village Courts.

What locality or neighborhood will your project focus on?
Moulvibazar District
Describe the specific population with whom you will be working.
Moulvibazar is emerged as one of the most vulnerable part of the country relative to incidence of poverty. Three quarter of households communities fall within “extreme poor” or “poor” wealth groups. The people are also illiterate and un-healthy. In this district tobacco cultivation activities are largely found. There are also some tobacco based (Bidi) industries. The rate of tobacco (gool, Jarda, Bidi etc.) consumption in this area is very high. So considering above issues Moulvibazar has been selected to implement the proposed project. If the project is implemented in this district the tobacco cultivators will be motivated to reduce tobacco cultivation and crop diversification. SSS wants to aware people of this area to leave tobacco consumption habits and to improve their health status.

Moulvibazar DC Office, all Upazila Offices under Moulvibazar District, all Union Parishad Office under Moulvibazar District, all Union Parishad Member, all CBOs and NGOs which are working in Moulvibazar districts, media personalities working in different part of Moulvibazar will be on our team.
What kinds of news, stories and other content will be created?
SSS has strong relations with local media and grass root community based organizations and media persons. The news and photos of proposed project will be published in local news papers and stories will be shared on the website of the organization as well as face book. One text messaging group will be created on mobile phones to share the text messages of this proposed project with relevant stakeholders on their cell phones about CANCER Project for their information.
What technologies and digital tools do you plan to use in the trainings?
Describe the connections that you or your organization have already established or plan to establish that will contribute to the success of the project.
Sachatan Shahajjo Sangstha (SSS) already established connection with Moulvibazar DC Office, one Upazila Office, 3 Union Offices of Moulvibazar Sadar Upazila. In future SSS will establish connection with all Upazila Offices, all Union Offices, all Union Parishad Members, all CBOs and NGOs which are working in Moulvibazar district, media personalities working in different part of Moulvibazar. For the more success of this project local digital media persons will be involved in the proposed project.
How many participants do you think will be trained in your project?
In first step 20 youth participants from electronic media and 50 local community based organizations will be trained through trainings from different areas to increase the campaigns at grass root level in villages regarding the project issues for the awareness of the people and 1000 young educated people will be mobilized for different areas to participate the project activities. SSS will sustain their participation by giving incentives and awards.

Describe the facilities where you will hold the workshops.
SSS requests for separate office on the rent for the proposed project, and one computer, one laptop, one printer, one scanner and some furniture (20 chairs and 4 tables) for the proposed project office. Above Procurement material is very necessary to make material in soft and hard for the participants for their capacity building and trainings.
What is your current relationship with the community with whom you plan to work? What makes you the most appropriate individual or organization to implement this project?
SSS is already working for the awareness about the harmful effect of tobacco use and to improve the health status of people in 3 unions of Moulvibazar Sadar Upazila under Moulvibazar District. These working experiences make appropriate organization to implement this project.
What specific challenges do you expect to face when planning and implementing your project?
Budget will be a challenge to implement the project. We will try to implement the within the budget. It is our expectation that our project will not face any security problem.
How will you measure and evaluate the project’s impact, specifically: your primary participants, the wider regional community, or the global digital community?
SSS is optimistic about the project’s impact. SSS thinks that it would be a pilot initiative. Its results will be shared with wider regional/community and the digital community.
